Tahiti is just an 8-hour flight from Los Angeles, so it really is an accessible destination for an extended vacation. When you fly out to this group of islands the first place you’ll land is Tahiti as that’s where the major airport is. It would be a mistake to simply fly in and out of here though, as there is a lot to see. Here you can experience snorkeling, take 4×4 trips around the island, and enjoy the 155-year-old market.
Tikehau
If it’s seclusion you’re looking for, then you’ll want to visit the island of Tikehau. Here is where you can get away from it all and enjoy the secluded Pink Sand Island. If wildlife spotting is your thing, then you can take a boat out to Bird Island which is home to some of the most exotic birds in the world. Just make sure you don’t forget your camera!
Moorea
If you want your island holiday to come with a little adventure, then Moorea is the place you need to be. Visitors to the island can enjoy paddle boarding, kite surfing, and canoeing. The waters are calm in the lagoon, so snorkeling and diving are ideal, which is perfect as there is an abundant marine life under the sea waiting to be discovered. Raiatea
Known as the Sacred Island, Raiatea is the second-largest landmass in French Polynesia. The name translates to “faraway heaven,” and it’s believed to be the first island inhabited by humans. One of the main attractions of Raiatea is the boating and fishing culture. The island is home to many sailing boat and yacht companies, and it’s where you can take in the islands by water.
