For those of you who enjoy taking the long and scenic route, long-length cruises are definitely for you. There’s something about making the journey the holiday itself that really creates a sense of romanticism and while it may be more costly than usual forms of transport, it’s definitely worth the while. As someone who doesn’t cruise often, I decided to spend 19 days traveling around Oceania on a luxury cruise that wound up being way better than I ever could have imagined. Rather than spending all that money on flights and hotels, the luxury cruise had everything I needed for a luxurious holiday and the novelty of being a unique way to see the world.
The cruise was based mainly around Australia and New Zealand and I traveled on the Silver Muse, a luxury 596 passenger ship with all the luxuries of a modern hotel. Each cabin comes with its own butler, bathroom, and mini-fridge (which gets restocked daily) and it’s own balcony! There are 8 different restaurants on the ship – each with their own tasty menu’s that you can sample over the course of your trip. There are also saunas, gyms, libraries, swimming pools and loads of entertainment to keep you busy over the course of the trip. Then again, simply kicking back and relaxing on the tanning deck is also an amazing way for you to spend your weekend.
You’ll get to stop at some of the most iconic places in New Zealand and Australia as well. But the best part about the trip is that you also get to stop at some of the less-known gems that either country has to offer. These include secret, volcanic hiking routes and trips to totally vacant islands. Ultimately, while traveling like this does cost a little more than usual, the luxury, peace and simply the fact that it’s a totally unique experience, all make it worthwhile.
